Qtpfsgui 1.9.2 for Mac

Hi folks,

I have uploaded a qtpfsgui v.1.9.2 binary on sourceforge now. I did this rather quick this morning, so I hope I got the steps right.

Just comment if there are any issues!

Take care!

I don't know very much about your program here. I did download the QT thing and installed that and restarted my PowerBook running 10.5.2. I downloaded your QTpfsgui 1.9.2, but it has a icon over that is a circle with a line through it. If I double click it I get a message that says I can't open the application because it is not supported on this architecture.

@anonymous: Unfortunately, it's a bit hard to spot, but the sourceforge download page should tell you that this binary is for i386 only - that will be intel-mac. As you have a powerpc based machine, this binary won't work.

I have an intention of creating a universal binary, but my build system is not up to the task right now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,
have two problems with qtpfsgui!
Batch tonemapping crashes after the first pic, and save as jpg does not work. any help?

Pastor Dr. Cornelius Doodah said...

I've downloaded and installed the QT as directed and the intel-only Qtpfsgui

However when I try to launch Qtpfsgui nothing happens. The icon zooms like the app will load, but it doesn't.

Intel Imac, OS 10.4.11

Hi here,
Same as pastor doodah.
QT installed, but qtpfsgui does not seem to launch correctly ... no error message, just nothing happens after the zooming icon, which does not come to the dock.

Sorry for being a bit unresponsive lately.

I'm not so sure about the reason for your problems. Could you please run in a Terminal-window:

/Applications/Qtpfsgui.app/Contents/MacOS/qtpfsgui

and report what you see?

Anonymous said...

Here is what I got in Terminal :

dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libexpat.1.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/Qtpfsgui.app/Contents/MacOS/qtpfsgui
Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap

Any idea ?

Åsmund Ødegård said...

Aaah, the libexpat isn't included on Tiger. Usj. I need to recompile with the libexpat linked statically to make this work. That's not something I can do on the machine I carry during my summer vacation, so I have to be reminded about this later on...

You should really upgrade to OS 10.5.x...

Take care!

@Tore: Do you installed Qt from trolltech? This is a requirement for Qtpfsgui.

I usually use this one on Mac: http://www.trolltech.com/download?target=ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qt/source/qt-mac-opensource-4.4.1.dmg

Hope this helps. Unfortunately I haven't had much time for Qtpfsgui lately.

Best.

The url you give leads to further choices. Which one should be chosen?

Åsmund Ødegård said...

@anon: seems like things have changed a bit over at trolltech.

This should be an ok link now:

ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qt/source/qt-mac-opensource-4.4.3.dmg

hope this help.

I have read somewhere that to enable Qtpfsqui to work
( I have a Mac 10.5.5 computer) I need to download from trolletch.com
software " Qt Open Source Edition"?

I emailed trolletch.com for their confirmation of the necessity to download their software called" Qt Open Source Edition

Their response was that it is necessary and there is a link
to the correct download from the Qtpfsgui downloads and I could get the latest version of qt here:

trolltech.com/download?target=ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qt/....

Going into the trolltech website is not as easy to find which software I should download.

Has anybody has knowledge of qt-mac from trolltech and could advise me which download to use?

thank you

Sue

Hi,

I have the same problem as "tore bang heerup" (see message above). Qtpfsgui crash when started and return the same error message.

But, I installed Qt4 and it seems it run well since I can run the demo application from Qt4. I also update my .bash_profile as following

Qt4=/usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.4.3
export Qt4
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$Qt4/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=$Qt4/lib:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH
PATH=$PATH:$LOCAL_ENV:$LOCAL_EXE:$LOCAL_EXE/GALPLOT:/opt/local/bin/:/usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.4.3/bin/
export PATH

And when I look into the /usr/local/Trolltech/Qt-4.4.3/lib folder (default installation folder of Qt4), the QtGui.framework/Versions/4/QtGui is not missing.

Any suggestions to correct this problem ?

When installing QT4 like this, the DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH must also be set:

export DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH=$Qt4/lib

Hi, I'm on a mac 0sx 10.4 powerpc - does this mean I can't install Qt4 or Qtpfsgui? Forgive me if the answer should be obvious, I'm a novice mac user

Åsmund Ødegård said...

@finola: That is not entirely true, but the effect is the same - you can install Qt4 just fine. But my build of qtpfsgui will not work on your system, and I am not aware of any other build that will work.

This mean that you will have to compile Qtpfsgui your self, but as a novice mac user I will say that you should not try, it is a quite involved process. I also don't think I will be able to provide such a build in the foreseeable future.

There are some older version of qtpfsgui available on sourceforge that will work, but I am not sure when the change happend. You will probably have to go back to early 1.8.x versions, which of course are quite different from the later versions, and with lots of bugs that was resolved in more recent versions. It could be a way to test and get a feeling of the application, though.

Hi Mandus,

I was happy to discover qtpfsgui today. Thanks for your work!

I'm running OS X 10.5.5 on a 2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo macbook pro. I installed Qt4 (the links described above are what I used; installation takes a very long time!!). I modified .bashrc_profile as described by William and you in the comments above.

Following all that, it works if I execute /Applications/Qtpfsgui.app/Contents/MacOS/qtpfsgui from a terminal, but not if I double click on the icon. (This is true for both 1.9.2 and 1.8.12).

Obviously this isn't a major problem, but I thought I would share the information.

Regards,
AaronK

As for Qt, should I download the C++ or Java version? :)

Åsmund Ødegård said...

If you use one of the precompiled versions of qtpfsgui, you just need the libs. For development, you will need the C++ version of Qt.

Right, that's what I thought. But the C++ and Java versions were the only downloads I could find for some reason. :/

hey
i have a mac with mac os 10.3.9 intel processor. I tried to download Qtpfsgui on my computer but it wont start. it asked me to download something called qtr but it didnt work at all either. please help me.

Åsmund Ødegård said...

Unfortunately, the qtpfsgui I have build only supports os 10.4 and 10.5 - you will probably not have much luck with a 10.3.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
